ALAMOSA – Adams State University women's lacrosse pitched its first shutout in school history today in a 12-0 win against Westminster University (Mo.) in Alamosa. The wind-ridded game could've been more, but the game had a running clock the entire time. This marks the 10
th win in school history in the young program's history.

Savannah Penland and Cera Cyster each picked up a hat trick with three goals apiece. They were joined by
Jessica Hammer with a pair of goals, while
Samantha Hammer,
Braquelle Calley,
Kendell Baylor and
Libby Weeks all scoring a goal.

The team beat out the previous best of 34 total shots, 30 of which were on goal. They also allowed just three shots on goal, all of which were cleaned up by goalie
Alexis Wellong. The 25 turnovers by Westminster was a season-high in opponent turnovers.

The defense was relentless, allowing just three of 26 in clears for the Blue Jays. The team themselves converted all but one of its 17 clears. The team also picked up 23 groundballs compared to just six for their opponent.
