ALAMOSA – Adams State University women's lacrosse picked up its first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference win yesterday in a home victory against Oklahoma Baptist University by a score of 12-5. Adams State plays tomorrow in Denver against Johnson and Wales University.

Savannah Penland kicked off the scoring within the first minute of the game, but Oklahoma Baptist answered right back. That would be the only score for the Oklahoma Baptist in the half, as the Grizzlies rattled off 10 more runs in the half to force a running clock.

In the excellent half,
Jessica Hammer and Cera Cyster each put up a hat trick with three goals.
Samantha Hammer, Kendall Baylor and
Libby Weeks all scored, while Penland had two in the half.

In the second
Libby Weeks picked up another goal to start things off, but that was it as Oklahoma Baptist took the rest of the half with four goals unanswered.

Jessica Hammer had a huge game with her hat trick and a pair of assists. Cyster and Baylor each picked up an assist as well.

The Grizzlies were 20-25 with shots on goal and attempted shots.
Alexis Wellong led the game with nine saves, while Adams dominated with 25 ground balls compared to just nine.

Oddly Oklahoma Baptist dominated draw controls with 16-2 on the count. Adams was the aggressor with 23 fouls compared to just five.
