ALAMOSA – Adams State University women's lacrosse had a tough road weekend, falling to Fort Lewis College Friday by a score of 0-21 and to CSU-Pueblo Sunday by a score of 1-24. Adams will look to bounce back this Thursday at home against Oklahoma Baptist University at 3 p.m.
Â
Sunday's game was tough, at Pueblo scored 13 unanswered in the first half to put the game out of reach early. The bleeding would continue until halfway through the second half when
Savannah Penland found the back of the net with an assist from
Cera Cyester.
Â
Defensively,
Jessica Hammer led the team with a pair of caused turnovers and eight draw controls. She also had three groundballs, only one off of
Kates Raymond who led the team with four.
Â
Penland was the aggressor for the team, putting up four shots. Cyester was not far behind with three, while Hammer and her sister
Samantha Hammer each had a shot. Kendell Baylor also found a shot.
Â
It was a relaxed officiated game, allowing the Grizzlies only a single free position shot attempt.
Alexis Wellong faced four, saving two of them to put up a quarter of her daily saves.
Â
Clears were a major fault for Adams, who only converted 20 percent of the 15 attempts. Despite this the team had nine draw controls.
