ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Adams State Men's Soccer Team reached a stalemate with conference foe CSU-Pueblo Friday, in what proved to be a battle of wills that was fought until the very end. The 1-1 tie is ASU's best result of the season, and there is plenty to be proud of.
While there are supposedly no moral victories, the game proved to be a huge step in the right direction for the Grizzlies, as they ended CSU-Pueblo's three-game win streak and did so playing stiff defense, especially late in the game.
After the Thunderwolves struck first just past the 31-minute mark in the first half with a goal from Brayden Ballman, The Grizzly defense would lock down and not allow another score in the rest of regulation or in extra time. This was due in part to phenomenal play from goalie
Jacob Faircloth who made his second start of the season in the box, and like his previous start, would let in just one goal.
The Grizzly offense nodded the score at one after
Joshua Baffoe headed in an assist from David Schlesinger just past the 70-minute mark in the game. The match concluded in a 1-1 tie after the end of regulation and extra time.
While Adams State was winless coming into the game, the match indicates a trend in the right direction as RMAC play picks up. The Grizzlies will be back in action Sunday, Sept. 16 at home, against Fort Lewis at 3 p.m.
