ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Adams State Women's soccer team will have their 2018 season home opener matchup with a matchup against West Texas A&M University on Friday, Sept. 7 and Eastern New Mexico University on Sunday, Sept. 9 at the ASU Soccer Field.
The Grizzlies are coming off a 1-1 weekend, in which they scored eight goals by six different players. Their first game of the season included a hat trick by Natalie Wheelock as well as goals from Diana Cerillo and Gia Barone which led to a 5-3 victory over University of Minnesota Crookston. Goalkeeper, Corri Zaiger, saved six shots on nine shots on goal.
The Grizzlies next game was a tight contest throughout with Northwest Nazarene University prevailing 4-3. Breana Flores, Brenna Oakey, and Kendall Weld all scored for the Grizzlies. Goalkeeper, Corri Zaiger, saved six shots on ten shots on goal in the loss.
Scouting the Lady Buffs
The Lady Buffs lost their first game of the season to Colorado-State University Pueblo, 2-0. West Texas A&M University is coming off a huge upset of the #3 team in the country, University of Colorado-Colorado Springs, 2-1. Khaline Jacob and Hannah Kelley-Lusk each have scored one goal. Courtney Dippel currently has 12 saves on 15 shots on goal.
Scouting the Greyhounds
Eastern New Mexico University tied with St. Mary's University last week, 1-1. Alexia Maldonado scored the Greyhounds lone goal. Cameron Koerner had nine saves on ten shots on goal. They will face New Mexico Highlands University on Wednesday, Sept. 5 and Fort Lewis College on Friday, Sept. 7 before heading down to Alamosa on Sunday, Sept. 9 to face the Grizzlies.
