ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Adams State Volleyball team fell in three sets to Metropolitan State University Denver in its home opener this Friday. The Grizzlies' record drops to 3-6 overall and 0-1 in the RMAC.
Set one was tightly contested midway through with the Roadrunners leading the Grizzlies, 11-8. Offensive struggles would go on to hinder the Grizzlies from here on out. Adams State went on to lose the set, 25-13.
Adams State pushed Metropolitan State University Denver in the second set. After falling down 13-7, Adams State would battle back to go on a seven-to-two run. The Grizzlies were now within striking distance down just one. The Roadrunners would not allow a Grizzly come back, winning the set, 25-19.
Adams State kept the score close midway through the third and final set. Adams State just could not retain the lead against the Roadrunners. Adams State would lose the final set, 25-16.
Shannon Mulkey led the Grizzlies in kills with eight. Rachael Ringler finished as the Grizzly assist leader at 20.
Adams State faces off against Chadron State College tomorrow night at 5 p.m. in Plachy Hall.
