ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Adams State Volleyball team swept Chadron State College in three sets Saturday evening in Plachy Hall. The Grizzlies record shifts to 4-6 overall and 1-1 in the RMAC.
Adams State came out firing from the first set. After being down 11-9 the Grizzlies bounced back going on an eight-to-three run to take the lead. Adams State went on to defeat Chadron State 25-20.
Set two was no different with Adams State taking the early lead. Adams State led by as many as six, 21-15. The Grizzlies went on to finish the set with the 25-18 victory over the Eagles.
Adams State completed the shut out over Chadron State in the third and final set. The Grizzlies went on to take the wire-to-wire win, leading from the opening serve. Adams State closed out Chadron State by a final score of 25-17 to end the match.
Shannon Mulkey led the Grizzlies in kills with 17, while Hannah Goddard earned a respectable 13. Rachael Ringler finished with a team-high 39 assists. Adams State finished the match with just 13 errors.
The Grizzlies will take the floor once again next weekend on the road. Adams State will face Colorado School of Mines Friday, Sept. 14, followed by a matchup against University of Colorado-Colorado Springs Saturday, Sept. 15.
