ALAMOSA, Colo. - The Adams State Men's Soccer team dropped their fourth straight game Saturday afternoon in a late game loss to Dallas Baptist University. The loss caps an 0-2 first home stand of the season.
Â
The defensive bout looked as though it would go into extra time as both teams were scoreless past 84 minutes when DBU midfielder David Valsquez converted an assist from Diego Palti into a late goal to break the Grizzlies' will and get the victory, 1-0.
Â
Both defensive units were stellar throughout the game, as Adams Sate goaltender
Jacob Faircloth made his first start of the season. Faircloth's debut was solid, as he would make one save and allow the lone goal of the match.
Â
The Adams offense took a hit late in the game as midfielder
Errol Coleman drew a yellow card just past the 74th minute which slowed the aggression down to the game. The yellow card hurt the Grizzlies as the offense was only able to register one shot on goal the entire second period.
Â
While there are supposedly no moral victories, Adams Sate fought until the very end and showed great resiliency and toughness in a game that could have gone either way. The Grizzlies will be back in action as they begin conference play against CSU-Pueblo Friday afternoon at the ASU Soccer Field at 1 p.m.
