Pair of Utah Teams Visit Grizzlies for Homecoming Weekend

ALAMOSA, Colorado – The Adam's State Women's Soccer team looks to bounce back this weekend while staying home. The Grizzlies begin the weekend with a matchup against Dixie State on Friday afternoon and then face Westminster College on Sunday at 11 a.m.

ASU Women's Soccer
The Grizzlies return from a weekend in the Mile High City where they faced MSU Denver and UC Colorado Springs. MSU Denver dealt the Grizzlies their first loss of the weekend by scoring four goals in the second half to pull out a 4-0 win. The Roadrunners outshot ASU, putting 14 shots on goal.

Following a disappointing shutout on Friday night, the Grizzlies looked to hold their own against No.1 ranked UC Colorado Springs. The Mountain Lions opened the scoring, scoring three goals in the first half and three in the second half despite Corri Zaiger's 10 save effort. Until the second half, the Grizzlies offense remained relatively quiet only putting 3 shots on goal. Zoe Moses netted her first goal of the season early in the second half to try to put the Grizzlies back in the game, but the Mountain Lions came out on top with a 6-1 win.

Scouting Dixie State
Dixie State heads to Alamosa with a 5-3-3 record (3-2-2 RMAC). The Trailblazers last faced Colorado School of Mines on Oct. 13th falling short in a close game. Similar to Adams, the Trailblazers look to bounce back from a tough game. Kelsey Cook and Whitley Johns, who both hold a top ten spot in the RMAC for points, lead their team into the weekend hoping to pick up a win.

Scouting Westminster College
The Griffins recently saw Colorado Christian's women's soccer team in a 1-0 win. Griffins offense dominated the game, putting 30 shots on goal. Emma Heyn scored a goal late in the second half that ended up being the game winner. With the win against CCU, Westminster pushed their record to 6-3-2 (3-3-1 RMAC). The Griffins head into the weekend with a well-balanced offense with eight girls having at least one goal under their belt. Standing behind their offense is goalie Hilary Weixler who is among the top 10 in RMAC for saves per game and shutouts per game.

Grizzlies head into a competitive homestand 3-7 (1-6 RMAC) and hope to come out with two wins, bumping them up to 5-9. They look to defend their turf this weekend and next weekend where they will face Colorado Mesa and Western Colorado.
