Grizzlies fall to Regis in Three

ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Adams State Women's Volleyball team fell tonight to Regis University. The Rangers took down the Grizzlies in three sets, 25-14, 25-23, and 25-20.
 
The Grizzlies had a rocky start, but kept the Rangers close throughout the opening minutes of the game. The two teams went back and forth tying at 7. The Rangers then took the lead and ran with it, finishing the first set 25-14.
 
Adams State came out much stronger in the second set. The Rangers and Grizzlies kept a good rally, tying the scores 11 times throughout the set, along with 11 different lead changes. Both Adams State and Regis played a close and intense set. When tied at 22, the Ranger kicked in to another gear, only allowing Adams State to score one more point to their three, winning 25-23.
 
The Grizzlies also had good energy in the third set. The Rangers and Grizzlies tied up the score five times within the first few minutes of the game. When tied at seven, the Rangers regained their lead and kept it for the remainder of the set. Adams State did not let there be more than a five-point margin between the Grizzlies and Rangers. Regis continued to push through the finish, taking down the Grizzlies 25-20.
 
The big leader for the Grizzlies tonight was Hannah Goddard. She had 7 kills, 2 aces and 5 digs. Shannon Mulkey and Riley Ogleive each had 5 kills, with Mulkey tacking on 4 blocks. Mackenzie Swanson also led the Grizzlies with 15 digs, 4 assists and 1 service ace. Bailey Schlosser was the Grizzlies leader in assists, with 10.
 
Adams State will be back out on the court tomorrow, Oct. 19 to take on Colorado Christian. Service is set to start at 7 p.m. in Plachy Hall.
