BETHLEHEM, Penn. – The Adams State Grizzlies Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams traveled to Philadelphia, PA this weekend for the 46
th annual Paul Short Run at Lehigh University. It is safe to say that they had a very successful trip, with the Men finishing third in the Gold Division of the 8k and the women taking second out of the Gold Division of the 6k. The biggest highlight of the morning, was Adams State's
Eilish Flanagan coming in first place in the 6k, with a time of 19:37.1. Flanagan dominated the race, winning by over six seconds. Her time was also good enough for a new Paul Short Run meet record. She continues to be a force to be reckoned with in Collegiate running at any level.
The second-place finishing Grizzlies finished with 174 points overall, and had five competitors finish in the top 100 of the pack. Following Flanagan who won the race outright,
Haleigh Hunter-Galvan came in 20
th with an impressive time of 20:24.6. Following her were
Tiffany Christensen in 24
th with a time of 20:31.1,
Piper Meuwissen in 63
rd with a time of 20:59.9,
Brianna Robles in 82
nd with a time of 21:07.7, and
Kaylee Bogina in 94

On the men's side, the Grizzlies entered the race as the 5
th ranked team in Division II, but their finish Saturday would say otherwise, as they had a fantastic day as a collective unit finishing third overall in the team standings of the 8k. They tallied an overall total of 184 points. Their top finisher on the day was
Dane Blomquist in 14
th, with a time of 23:44.7. Following Blomquist, four other Grizzlies finished in the top 100 of the final results.
Kale Adams ran a solid time of 23:55.7, finishing 24
th overall. After him were
Carson Bix in 33
rd with a time of 24:02.3,
Paddy Robb in 46
th with a time of 24:10.9, and rounding out the top 100 finishers,
Isaiah Rodarte in 78
th with a time of 24:26.1.
Both the men's and women's teams put on an impressive show at the Paul Short Run Saturday, as both are considered the gold standard of Division II Cross Country. Look for them to continue to stay atop the National rankings headed into the most important and competitive parts of the season. They will be back in action next weekend at the Fort Hays State Tiger Open from Hays Kansas next Saturday, before entering postseason competition.
