ALAMOSA, Colo – The Adams State men's soccer team opened up at home in a heated, Friday afternoon matchup against the Regis Rangers that ended in another falling for the now Grizzlies, who were still winless on the year following the loss Friday.
The Rangers' first steps on ASU turf came with heat, having three shots with two on goal before the fifth minute of the matchup. Grizzlies' goalkeeper
Jacob Faircloth snagged the two and added three more saves before Michael Jimenez sent a shot that saw the back of the net, putting the Grizzlies down 0-1 in the 17
th minute. Another goal would come about to add early, first half pressure to the Grizzlies who were down 0-2 by the 20
th minute. Senior defender, Abduolie Danso would retaliate in the 26
th minute, dribbling deep into Rangers territory and scoring a non-assisted goal to decrease Regis' lead to a single goal heading into halftime.
Both teams came into the second half looking to put it away once and for all. Regis got things started by putting a heavy offensive front deep into Grizzly territory to ultimately end in an own goal to put the Rangers up 3-1 in the 46
th minute. The Grizzlies stayed in the competition having various penalty kicks and shots on goal but no cigar. Regis would put up two more in the 77
th and 83
rd minute to finally put the Grizzlies away at home.
It was a cool Friday afternoon but things on the ASU Soccer Field stayed hot throughout the entire matchup. Both teams had yellow cards drawn toward their respected players and had a total of 17 fouls (10 Regis, 7 ASU) on the day. Rangers played aggressive offense, having 20 shot attempts with 14 on goal. Adams State had eight with two on goal.
Jacob Faircloth played a busy game with nine saves on the day. Faircloth sits in the top five in the RMAC for saves per game.

The Adams State men's soccer team played a competitive, Sunday afternoon matchup against UC Colorado Springs in what would result in a well-deserved home win for the Grizzlies. The Grizzlies split week three of Conference play and now sit at 1-6-1, 1-4-1 RMAC.
The Mountain Lions came in hot firing four shots, with three on goal, within the fifth minute of the matchup, posing early pressure on the Grizzly defense. At ease, goalkeeper
Jacob Faircloth snagged three of four total saves in the half to combat the attack. In the 33
rd minute of the matchup, senior midfielder
Dylan Udero fired a shot that would be his first goal on the season to put the Grizzlies up 1-0. It would only take the Grizzlies a short two minutes before they got on the board again with a goal assisted by Isreal Varela by
Pablo Fernandez. The game stayed quiet into halftime with a Grizzly lead of 2-0.
It would only be five minutes after halftime, when the Mountain Lions would retaliate with an own goal to stay in contention. With a difference of a single goal, the match grew in intensity that resulted in a yellow card flashed for the visiting UC Colo. Springs. Another own goal would come into play in the 65
th minute, this time in Adams State's favor. The Grizzlies grew too comfortable with the lead and it would take UCCS three minutes to hit back with a goal from Alex Daseler. The rest of the match stayed competitive, both teams earning yellow cards and UCCS earning a red before ending in a Grizzly victory to put them at 1-6-1 on the season.
