GUNNISON, Colo. – The Adams State Women's Volleyball team falls in three sets to Western Colorado. Adams State falls to 7-16 overall and 4-10 in RMAC.
The first set opened with Western Colorado taking a 5-3 lead. The Mountaineers quickly went on a 15-3 run to gain a quick lead. Western Colorado only allowed Adams State to score one more point before closing the set.
Western Colorado started their second set similar to the first, going on a 9-2 run. Adams State slowly began cutting the Mountaineer lead down with a few big kills from
Riley Oglevie and
Chasey Blach. The Grizzlies came all the way back to tie the score at 20. The Mountaineers only allowed the Grizzlies to score once more before finishing the set 25-21.
The third and final set started out with Western Colorado getting up 5-2. The Mountaineers maintained their lead throughout the set. Western Colorado had their largest lead of 11 in the set. The Mountaineers closed the set 25-14.
Leaders for the Grizzlies on the attack were
Shannon Mulkey with six kills and Oglevie with 4 kills. Mulkey also lead the team with 4 blocks.
Mackenzie Swanson was the Grizzly leader with 16 assists.
Adams State will be back out on the court tomorrow afternoon in Grand Junction, Colo. to take on Colorado Mesa.
