HAYS, Kan. – The Adams State Women's Basketball team falls to Fort Hays State tonight in Kansas. The Tigers defeated the Grizzlies 79-39 in tonight's matchup. The Grizzlies now fall to 0-3 in their early season.
The first quarter opened up with Fort Hays taking an early lead 10-3. Adams State closed down the lead as the quarter progressed with a couple buckets from
Zakiya Beckles. Fort Hays led Adams State 13-10. To complete the first half, the Tigers added on 20 points in the second quarter to the Grizzlies' 5, ending the second quarter 33-15.
Adams State added six more points to their score in the third quarter. Beckles opened the second half hitting a jumper.
Makaela Ewing added to the Grizzlies score hitting another jumper. Beckles added the final points to Adams State's third quarter score.
Moving into the fourth, Fort Hays led the Grizzlies 56-21. Adams State did well in the paint in the fourth quarter, finding
Maddie Dorris and Carissa Schaffer for a couple of good layups. The Grizzlies added 18 point to end the half, finishing the game 39-79.
Beckles led the Grizzlies with 16 points on the night with 3 steals. Dorris finished the night with 7 points, 3 assists and 2 rebounds. Leading the Grizzlies on the boards was Ewing, grabbing 5 defensive rebounds, followed by
Marshell Hollins with 4 rebounds.
The Grizzlies will be back in action tomorrow, Nov. 16 to take on the University of Nebraska-Kearney in Hays, Neb. Tipoff it set to start at 2 p.m. MT
