Justin Boyd Hired as New Senior Associate Athletic Director for Adams State University

ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Adams State Grizzly family is excited to add its newest member in athletic administration, Senior Associate Athletic Director of Compliance and Internal Affairs Justin Boyd.

Boyd, a Snyder, Texas native, comes with experience as a former NCAA student-athlete himself, competing in track & field for Division II Angelo State, and Division I Baylor University. At Angelo State, Boyd was a three-time Division II All-American in the 400 meter hurdles and 4x400 meter relay. Upon transferring to Baylor, he was part of an NCAA Division I National Championship 4x400 meter relay team in 2008.

His professional career includes time spent in NCAA compliance, most recently at Washington State University where he served as Compliance Coordinator for the Cougars. He comes to Adams State with a resume that speaks for itself. "I am excited about the opportunity of working with Athletic Director Larry Mortensen, the student-athletes, and everyone within the athletic department. My family and I are thrilled and honored to be joining the team at Adams State University," Boyd said regarding his recent hiring. "Adams State is a special place with an elite and historical reputation. I am fully expecting to develop strong relationships with members of the athletic department. I'm also looking forward to furthering relationships with faculty, staff, and students within the Adams State community."

Athletic Director Larry Mortensen, who the hiring of Boyd will directly benefit, spoke highly of Boyd. "To say we are excited would be a cliché." Mortensen said. "This position coupled with Justin's experience and skillset, we believe, will be transformative for our athletic department. His passion and knowledge immediately stood out in the hiring process. He comes highly recommended. This newly created position, along with a full-time compliance assistant, demonstrates our commitment to all facets of student-athlete success. We welcome Justin Boyd and his family to Grizzly Nation."
