Grizzlies Take Mountain Lions to Four Sets

ALAMOSA, Colo. – Adams State Women's Volleyball falls to UC-Colorado Springs in four close set. The Grizzlies battled it out with the Mountain Lions, with the Mountain Lions coming out on top 3-1.
 
Adams State held a close first set with the Mountain Lions, going back and forth with UC-Colorado Springs. The Mountain Lions finished strong 9-4 run at the very end to defeat the Grizzlies 25-19. Keeping their momentum, UC-Colorado Spring dominated the second set, where they won 25-15.
 
Adams State took a big momentum shift away from the Mountain Lions when they had a big W in the third set. The Grizzlies came out in the third set ready to go, starting the set on a 5-1 scoring streak. With the score only being tied once at 1, the Grizzlies held the lead for the entire set, with their biggest lead holding to a margin of 7. Adams State came away with a 25-20 win.
 
The Grizzlies again came out with the same intensity in set four, where Adams State quickly grasped the lead at the beginning, but the Mountain Lions kept them within a close reach. With the Grizzlies leading by four, the Mountain Lions went on a 5-1 run, tying the score at 15. From there the score was tied four more times, where UC-Colorado Springs came out victorious 25-23.
 
Adams State played very well throughout the night, and had some really good things for their team. Hannah Goddard and Mackenzie Swanson led the team defensively, each with double digit digs. Adding to the defense were Shannon Mulkey and Riley Ogleive each had a handful of blocks.  
 
The Grizzlies will be back in action again tomorrow night in Plachy Hall at 7 p.m. to take on the Orediggers of Colorado School of Mines.
