ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Adams State Women's Volleyball team took on the #25 Colorado School of Mines Saturday night, where the Orediggers took three straight sets. The Grizzlies move to 4-9 overall and 0-4 in RMAC.
The first set started out in the favor of the Orediggers. Colorado School of Mines came out of the gate strong taking an early lead. The Grizzlies fought back with a couple of big kills from
Hannah Goddard, but the Orediggers held on finishing the set 25-12.
The Grizzlies came out in much stronger in the second set, getting the first point on the set. The score went back and forth between the two teams. Within the first minutes, the score was tied 6 times. The Grizzlies led for the first half of the set, but the Orediggers took control late in the set, going on an 11-2 run to win 25-14.
The third set resulted much like the first, with Colorado School of Mines taking an early lead, and holding on to the finish. Adams State again had some big kills from
Shannon Mulkey and Riley Ogleive to keep the Grizzlies in the game. The Orediggers closed out the match winning 25-13.
Leaders for the Adams State attack were Mulkey with 8 kills, Goddard with 5, and Ogleive with 4. On the Defensive end
Mackenzie Swanson led the Grizzlies with 8 digs, followed by
Bailey Schlosser with 4 and 20 assists.
The Grizzlies will be back at home next weekend to take on Dixie State and Westminster College.
