Orediggers Dominate Grizzlies

GOLDEN, Colo. - Adams State Women's Basketball falls to Colorado School of Mines in tonight's matchup, 79-36. The Grizzlies now fall back to 2-12 overall and 2-6 in RMAC play. 

Adams State opened up the game with a good jumper from Marshell Hollins. The Orediggers quickly responded with a layup to tie the game. Laura Gutierrez and Danielle Jimenez added to the Grizzlies total with a couple of threes. The lead changed 5 times within the first quarter, with the Grizzlies holding that lead three times. The score was tied 12-12 at the end of the first. 

The Grizzlies opened the second quarter with a good three from Paiton Demps to put Adams State up 15-12. The Orediggers went on a 17-1 run, gaining a 13 point lead over the Grizzlies. The first half ended with Colorado School of Mines leading the Adams State 32-16. 

Adams State continued to battle back in the third quarter. With points from Demps, Maddie Dorris, and Kassie Schell, the Grizzlies added 11 points to their total. Colorado School of Mines finished the third quarter leading the Grizzlies 53-27. 

The Orediggers continued to push the pace in the fourth quarter, expanding their lead. Makaela Ewing, Ally McKenzie, and Jimenez contributed to the Grizzlies fourth quarter points. The second half closed with the Orediggers on top, 79-36. 

Leading the Grizzlies offense on the night was Demps, getting 7 points, 2 steals and 3 rebounds. Jimenez was close behind with 6 points. Gutierrez lead the Grizzlies with 6 rebounds, 4 defensive and 2 offensive. 

The Grizzlies will be back out on the court tomorrow night in Colorado Springs, Colorado to take on the Mountain Lions of UC-Colorado Springs at 5:30 p.m.
