GEN | Brianna Robles named October Student Athlete of the Month

ALAMOSA, Colo.— Adams State University sophomore cross country Brianna Robles has been named the ASU Student Athlete of the Month for the month of October.

Robles, a Palmview, Texas native, and her cross country teammates raced twice during the month of October. She opened the 2020 campaign by leading the team to a team win and her first career win at the Colorado Mesa Maverick Invitational. She finished the 5,000-meter course in 17:32.0, ten seconds ahead of second place. Because of her efforts, she was named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Runner of the Week and U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Athlete of the Week for Division II. According to the USTFCCCA release, this is the fourth time a female athlete from Adams State has been named National Athlete of the Week.

Two weeks later, Robles led the Grizzlies to a fourth-place finish at the 2020 RMAC Cross Country Championships at Monument Valley Park in Colorado Springs. Robles finished in third place overall to earn First Team All-RMAC honors as she finished the three-loop 6,000-meter course in 21:20.1.

Robles posted a GPA of 3.33 and is double majoring in English, Mass Communications and Creative Writing.

The Student Athlete of the Month Award will be presented at the end of each month during the 2020-21 academic school year and is being sponsored by the Colorado Potato Administrative Committee.
