OGDEN, Utah – The Adams State University Men's Basketball team opened 2020 an exhibition game at Weber State University on Wednesday night. Despite the hot start to the second half the Grizzlies fell 88-60.
The Grizzlies started flat the first two minutes of the game but rallied back with a 5-0 run that included a deep three by
Nykolas Lange to tie the game at five. The Wildcats then jumped out to a 14-7 lead before the Grizzlies went in a 6-0 run to pull within one point, 14-13, with just over 9:30 left in the first half.
The Division I prowess of the Wildcats jumpstarted an 11-0 run that included a Porter three-pointer to make the score 25-13.
Frederick Jackson broke the run with two layups to be the first player in the game to break ten points. The Wildcats closed out the half with a burst of points and extended their lead to 16 points, 36-20.
Adams State started the second half with three different players scoring points for a 6-0 run to cut the lead back down to ten, 36-26. Despite that the Wildcats pulled away and eventually padded their lead.
The Grizzlies had three players finish with double figures as Jackson led the way with 17 points as he was 17-10 from the field, and 3-of-5 from the free throw line.
Destan Williams finished with 15 points as he was 6-of-15 from the field with a single trey while
Kaelin Crane had 11 points as he was 5-of-13 from the field.
As a team the Grizzlies shot 34.3 percent from the field (24-of-70) and 19 percent from beyond the arch (4-of-21).
The Grizzlies added another exhibition game for Thursday as they are now scheduled to play at Utah Valley State University at 11 a.m. Fans can tune in to

The Grizzlies are now scheduled to open the season on Saturday, Dec. 5 at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
The home slate is set to commence on Tuesday, Dec. 8 with the Grizzlies hosting CSU-Pueblo. They will also close out the 2020 portion of the season on Saturday, Dec. 12 and Friday, Dec. 18 when they host South Dakota Mines and Colorado Mesa University, respectively.
Due to the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 in the San Luis Valley, all Adams State University home games in 2020 will be played without spectators. ASU Athletics will continuously re-evaluate the policy as local and state guidelines change.
