SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Adams State Grizzlies dropped their final road game of the season at the hands of the Westminster Griffins tonight in Salt Lake, by a final score of 62-90. After two weekends on the road, the Grizzlies will be eager to come back home and close out their season with three-straight home contests.
Kaelin Crane played a complete game on both ends of the floor, scoring 14 points to go with five rebounds, as well as two blocks and a pair of steals on defense.
Logan Longo started for the second straight night, and although he did not duplicate the same type of night as he had last night, he knocked down three from deep and finished with 13 points.
Nana Appiah had a tremendous night off the bench, scoring 17 points in 24 minutes. With even fewer healthy bodies than they had last night, suiting up just seven players, the Grizzlies were forced to rely on Appiah's post presence up against the big size disadvantage that the Griffins possessed.
The Grizzlies were able to put up a total of 31 field goal attempts in the first half, but had a very rough half from three point range, and were unable to get to the free throw line. They went into half down 17, but this time the depleted Grizzlies would not muster a second half rally. Westminster, knowing the fight the Grizzlies were capable of putting up, were not about to allow another furious second half rally as was the case the last time the two teams met, and kept the pressure on all the way until the final buzzer.
The Grizzlies have now lost four-straight, but will look to hopefully close out a tumultuous season on a high note when they return home next weekend. They will now turn their sights toward Western Colorado on Friday and Colorado Mesa on Saturday, two teams the Grizzlies hope they can serve up some revenge on.
