Grizzlies Go down Swinging in St. George, 81-102

ST. GEORGE, Utah – The Adams State Grizzlies suffered a hard-fought defeat to the hands of the Dixie State Trailblazers on the road tonight in what was their third straight loss, going down 81-102. The Grizzlies, now unfortunately eliminated from playoff contention, look to rebound in Salt Lake City tomorrow night, as they prepare to take on the Westminster Griffins in what will be their final road game of the 2019-20 season.

The Grizzlies' night got off to a tough start. They were more than doubled up in the first half, outscored 25-54 headed into halftime. However, the lopsided deficit did not deter their effort, or their fight. Only having 8 players available on the evening, every Grizzly who was suited up played a significant role and against all odds, came out and outscored Dixie in the second half 56-48.

Point guard Juwan Green was all guts on the evening, playing all 40 minutes of the ballgame, contributing 16 points on offense as well as 5 assists. Leading the scoring were Junior Kaelin Crane who played 34 tough minutes and finished with 21 points, and Logan Longo who started for the Grizzlies and got red hot from three-point range in the second half, hitting 6 threes and also finishing with 21. Crane was a fore on defense, finishing the game with a whopping four steals and a pair of blocks. The trio of Green, Crane, and Longo would leave nothing in the tank on the evening, providing their very best efforts even in a lost cause. On the night, the Grizzlies shot just over 46% from the field and 33% (11-33) from downtown.

The game was perhaps the Grizzlies' toughest task of the season, being that they had just healthy bodies up against a top-ranked RMAC team in Dixie state who was hungry to avenge their loss in Alamosa just two weeks ago. The Grizzlies fought their tails off, but in the end, went down swinging 81-102. They now turn their sights toward Westminster, a team that defeated them on their home floor back on January 31st, hopeful that thy can flip the script. Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM Saturday night from Salt Lake City.
