WSOC | Grizzlies lose a tough match to Western

Box Score ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Adams State Grizzlies played an excellent game against Western Colorado today. The Grizzlies and the Mountaineers fought hard but only the Mountaineers were victorious.

The first half was in total favor of the Mountaineers. The Mountaineers came out fast and physical. The Western Colorado scored their only two goals in the first half. In the 20th minute, Laura Pelino scored a goal and then in the 28th minute, Pelino scored again. However, the second goal was the result of a penalty kick as the Grizzlies fouled Pelino in the box. The Grizzlies didn't respond until the second half.

The Grizzlies came out fast in the second half. They dominated the second half and scored in the 60th minute. Carena Harrison scored with the assist from Justine Cardwell. The Grizzlies applied lots of pressure and has a few close shots but were not successful. The Grizzlies lost to the Mountaineers 2-1.

"Effort is there. Togetherness is there. We just need to execute and play a full 90 minutes instead of 45 minutes or 70 minutes or whatever the case may be," Head Coach Colin Baker said. "We move forward into the grind of the RMAC season ready to go at home next Sunday."

Up next, the Grizzlies will play at home again on Sunday, October 10th at 1:00 p.m. The Grizzlies will be playing Fort Lewis College.
