ALAMOSA, Colo.—The Adams State University football team was able to celebrate on Saturday afternoon inside Rex Stadium as they pulled off a 37-14 win over Fort Lewis College in the 75th annual Spud Bowl.

Tyreik Campbell averaged 6.7 yards as he was the offensive workhorse for the Grizzlies with 27 carries for 180 yards.

Zachary Survillas scored 12 of the Grizzlies points as he was 3-of-4 on field goals. He hit from 30, 28 and 37 yards out while lone miss from 52 yards out bounced off the right upright. Survillas was also a perfect 3-for-3 on extra point attempts. He had eight kickoffs in the game with six touchbacks as he averaged 64.9 yards per kick.

The game started with Adams State scoring the first 31 points. On the opening drive for the Grizzlies, Bryce Hampton was on the receiving end of a 49-yard pass play from Bradley Smith to cap off a three-play, 60-yard possession that took off 1:10 from the clock to lead 7-0 after one quarter.

The second quarter saw Zachary Survillas connect on a 30-yard field goal before Shammah Luani capped off an eight-play, 65-yard drive. Smith also reached paydirt on a one-yard crash to make the score 24-0 at the half.

Smith also scored a 15-yard run to open the third quarter. It was capped off by a Jordan Larson extra point to make the score 31-0.

Survillas then scored two more field goals from 27-yards out and 37-yards out sandwiched around two Skyhawk touchdowns.

Smith finished the day with 230 all-purpose yards. He carried the ball eight times for 44 yards while he was 15-of-26 on pass attempts for 186 yards and one touchdown. He had two rushing touchdowns on the day.

The win was the Grizzlies' first win since Oct. 19, 2019 when they defeated South Dakota Mines 37-32. The win snapped a 13-game losing streak and is the first win for Adams State in 749 days. The win is also the first collegiate win for Head Coach Jarrell Harrison.

Adams State will wrap up the 2021-22 season next Saturday when they travel to Golden, Colo. to take on the No. 13 Colorado School of Mines Orediggers. The game can be seen on the RMAC Network and on KWGN Channel 2 (CW).
