ALAMOSA, Colo.— The Adams State Grizzlies took on the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in the conference, opening weekend. The Grizzlies fought hard, but didn't quite have enough to get the win.
The first quarter began and the Grizzlies came out to a slow start. The Mountain Lions attacked and started on a 6-0 lead. The Grizzlies slowly fought back and ended the first quarter with the score 14-12, UCCS. The second quarter didn't go as smooth as the Mountain Lions were up going into halftime with the 35-25 lead.
The second half began and the Grizzlies had a much better start. They fought the Mountain Lions hard but ended the 3rd quarter down, with a score of 52-46. The Grizzlies battled and fast their way against the aggressive Mountain Lions. They never had enough to surpass so the final score was 71-60. The score doesn't show the close game that happened in Plachy Hall. Because of this, the Grizzlies now have a 1-1 start to their conference play.
Up next for the Grizzlies are two tough opponents. They are on the road against CSU Pueblo on Tuesday, December 7th and South Dakota Mines on Saturday, December 11th.
