SPEARFISH, S.D.—The Adams State Grizzlies Men's and Women's Track & Field teams opened the first day of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships this weekend in South Dakota, at the Black Hills State Donald E. Young Center Fieldhouse.
The Grizzlies are off to a good start as
John Hochanadel sets the tone for the rest of the week. Hochanadel competed in the men's weight throw this morning, throwing a personal best of 16.70 meters and taking home a bronze medal.
In the men's mile
David Cardenas placed second with a time of 4:11.21.
Andrew O'Keefe also competed, placing third with a time of 4:12.36.
There were two Grizzlies who competed in the woman's Mile.
Nicole Lawrence dominated in her heat and placed sixth overall with a time of 5:03.03, followed by
Morgan Hykes in seventh posting a time of 5:04.46.
Jonah Vigil finished first in his heat and advanced to the finals of the 400 meters with a time of 49.12.
In the men's 800-meters Sam Kepford placed seventh posting a time of 1:58.83. James Dunne ran a time of 2:01.42, followed by teammate Abdi Abade running a final time of 2:10.20.
The lone Grizzly Lawrence ran the 800-meter, placing fifth with a time of 2:19.07.
The Grizzlies will be back in action tomorrow competing in the men's shot put, men's 5,000 meters, women's 5,000 meters, men's 60 meter hurdle prelims, and the men's distance medley relay.
After four events were scored, the Adams State women are sitting in seventh place with nine team points while the Adams State men are sitting in second place with 25 points.
