SPEARFISH, S.D.—The Adams State Grizzlies Men's and Women's Track & Field teams posted stellar times on Day Two of the RMAC Indoor Track & Field Championships this weekend in South Dakota, at the Black Hills State Donald E. Young Center Fieldhouse.
The Grizzlies began their Saturday afternoon competing in the men and woman's 5,000-meters.
Ahmed Sado ran a very impressive race taking second with a time of 14:46.15.
Devin Paredes ran a time of 15:05.69, followed by teammate
Justin Andrade, who also competed, posting a time of 15:09.59.
In the woman's 5,000-meters
Brianna Robles led wire-to-wire earning a gold medal with a time of 17:05.95. Robles broke the Fieldhouse record and thanks to the conversion, is ranked in the top ten headed into the NCAA Championships.
Also earning a gold medal for the Grizzlies was Sam Dirkes throwing 16.14-meters in the men's shot put.
The Grizzlies continued to put on outstanding performances as Leroy Elliott competed in the prelims of the Men's 60-meter hurdles and is ranked in first, as he advanced to finals with a provisional time of 8.19.
Neveh Jones also competed posting a time of 8.97.
In the Men's Distance Medley
Andrew O'Keefe,
Jonah Vigil,
David Cardenas, and
Carson Bix placed first posting a time of 10:03.46, which with the conversion will place the Grizzlies in the top ten going into nationals.
The Grizzlies will be back in action tomorrow in the men's 60-meter hurdle finals, men's 400-meter finals, men and woman's 3,000-meters, and the 4x400 meter relay.
The Adams State women are sitting in sixth place with 23 team points, while the men are sitting in second place with 59 points.
