LOS ANGELES, Calfi.—The Adams State Men and Women Track and Field team are always one stride ahead. The Grizzlies competed at the Sound Running College Invite were several athletes hit the provisional and automtic national qualifying marks.
The night kicked off with the women's 5,000-meters.
Eilish Flanagan ran an impressive race as she won with a time of 15:57.81, which is an automatic national qualifier and sits at number one overall in this event. Rosin Flanagan helped set the tone for the race and finished in fourth as she posted a time of 16:36.84, not to far after
Brianna Robles accelerated towards the finish line as she ran a new personal best posting a time of 16:37.29. Haleigh Hunter-Galvin made her way to the finish line as she finished in 10th posting a time of 16:53.36, followed by
Kaylee Bogina in 12th with a final time of 16.54.68. Each of these women hit just under the provision national qualifying standard and are in a good position heading towards the rest of the season.
On the men's side multiple Grizzlies ran amazing times and set new personal records in the men's 5,000 meters.
Carson Bix was the first Grizzly to cross the finish line as he placed eighth with a time of 13:58.29 and now sits in the number two in the nation. Davonte Jet-Reynolds ran a new personal best as he finished in 11th with a time of 14:06.21, followed by
Ahmed Sado who finished in 12th posting a final time of 14:07.07. Miguel Coca was also quick on his feet setting a new personal record of 14.13.30 as he finished,, followed by Josh Joseph who ran a final time 14:32.17 as they competed in this event each Grizzly hit the provisional national qualifying standard while they also ran some outstanding times.
The Grizzlies look forward to continuing to improve the rest of the season and will be back in action on April 9 as the sprinters head to Lubbock, Texas to compete at the Masked Rider open. The distance team will be traveling to Grand Junction to compete at the Colorado Mesa home meet.
