PUEBLO, Colo.—The Adams State men and women's Track & Field team kicked off day two of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) in the Outdoor Track & Field Championships this weekend in Pueblo, Colorado, at the at the Neta and Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl on the campus of Colorado State University Pueblo.
As the Grizzlies continue the championship portion of their season Clement Duigou finished in the top ten as he competed in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase. Duigou put in his full effort as he posted a final time of 9:38.66.
In the women's section of the 3,000-meter steeplechase the Grizzlies had five women who competed in this event.
Haleigh Hunter-Galvan has a strong finish earning her a gold medal in this event as she posted a final time of 11:11.83. Sarah Wills finished in fifth place as she posted a final time of 11:46.62, followed by
Reina Paredes in sixth (11:49.24).
Erin Stonebarger placed ninth (12:04.16), and
Paige Morales placed 11
th (12:24.97).
The Grizzlies continued to put on great performances advancing two men to the finals in the men's 110 meter hurdles. Leroy Elliot finished fourth as he advances to finals with a final time of 14.78.
Jordan Spencer is the other Grizzly who earned a spot to advances to the finals placing eight with a final time of 15:34.
David Varner posted a final time of 15.59 and
Neveh Jones ran a final time of 16.59 as he also competed in this event.
In the men's 200 meter,
Eric Williams ran a final time of 22.66, followed by
David Varner who ran a final time of 22.94 as both competed in this event. In the women's 200 meter,
Alese Sartain posted a final time of 26.04, followed by
Caelyn Gomez who ran a time of 26.96.
In the men's 800-meter prelims
David Cardenas earn the second fastest time going into the finals as he posted a final time of 1:52.72. Sam Kepford posted a final time of 1:55.50 as he also competed in this event. In the women's 800-meter prelims,
Nicole Lawrence ran a solid race to get her into the finals seeded with the second fastest time as she posted a final time of 2:12.32.
Heading into the final day, Adams State men scored 20 points while the women scored 17.
The Grizzlies will be back in action tomorrow competing in the men's and women's 5,000 meter, all the other Grizzles will be competing in the finals section of their events.
