VB | Grizzlies drop final two games of Tiger Open

HAYS, Kan.—After winning four straight matches, the Grizzlies were unable to keep the streak alive as they dropped their final two games of the 2021 Fort Hays State Tiger Open on Saturday. They were swept by No. 16 Southwest Minnesota State and fell to the host Fort Hays State Tigers in four sets.

The first match of the day saw Adams State's ten-set and three-match winning streak come to an end as they were swept by Southwest Minnesota State with scores of 25-11, 25-10 and 25-11.
 
In the match, the Grizzlies were out hit 45-14 while the Grizzlies committed 18 errors compared to 11 for Southwest Minnesota.
 
The leading attacker for the Grizzlies was Sai Collins, who had four kills while Shannon Mulkey and Riley Rabedeaux had three.

The second match for the Grizzlies saw them drop the first set before evening the match at one and then dropping the final two. The Grizzlies lost with scores of21-25, 25-19, 17-25 and 22-25.
 
In the match, the Grizzlies tallied 49 kills and hit at a .172 clip.
 
They were led in kills by Sai Collins and Shannon Mulkey with 14 and 12 kills, respectively.
 
Up Next
The Grizzlies will open up Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action next week with two games. They will hit the road first on Tuesday when they travel to Lakewood to take on Colorado Christian. They will then be in action on Friday when they host Chadron State at 7:00 p.m.
