MSOC | Adams State scoreless against Fort Lewis

ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Adams State Grizzlies traveled to Durango, Colorado to play Fort Lewis in a non-conference match. Fort Lewis came away with a 2-nil shutout.

In the first half, the Grizzlies and the Skyhawks were battling back and forth. By the 26th minute, Adams Sate faced three shots on goal, with goalkeeper, Logan Rabasca, having one save.  Fort Lewis continued to get some shots on goal. Unfortunately, one found the back of the net in the 40th minute by Brantley Bice, making the score 1-0.

The Grizzlies and the Skyhawks started the second half similarly to the first. The momentum of the game was going back and forth until Fort Lewis scored in the 54th minute. Quinn Bosanko found the back of the net, making the score 2-0. The Grizzlies fought back but were not able to comeback as the final score was 2-0.

"Really good game for us today credit to Fort Lewis, they're a good team and even better at home but I'm encouraged by how we played. With the extended break we've been playing catch up but today I felt good about the cohesion we displayed on both sides of the ball," Head Coach Brett Bentley said. "Unfortunately, we've had some strange things lead to goals but those are easily fixed. I'd be far more concerned if we weren't able to compete from an athletic or soccer stand point but we are so the results will come."

Up next, the Grizzlies will be at home as they take on Colorado Christian on Sunday, September 19th. This will be the second matchup between the two. The Grizzlies lost at the last meeting 2-1, but they look to end this one with a win.

"Big things for us now is to continue to develop our understanding of the tactical plan and to improve our fitness," Coach Bentley remarked about the upcoming games and conference. "We will stay positive and continue to expect results every time we take the field."
