ALAMOSA, Colo.— In front of a packed Black Out Plachy Hall, the Adams State University Grizzly volleyball team swept the Chadron State University Eagles on Friday night. The Grizzlies, who opened Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action with a 2-0 mark for the first time since 2017, won with scores of 25-18, 25-18 and 25-16.
The Grizzlies and Eagles battled for the first five points before the Eagles took a 9-6 lead. Adams State rallied back and tied the set at 10 before closing out the set with a 15-8 run.
Alexandra MacAskill paced the Grizzlies as she had four kills on seven total attacks.
In the second set again saw the Grizzlies and Eagles tied early but the Grizzlies had an 11-5 run and led 16-9 before finishing off with a 9-9 run.
Shannon Mulkey was the top attacker as she had five kills on six attacks while MacAskill had three assisted blocks.
The third set was all Adams State as
Anna Huggins served for 11 of the third set 25 points.
Of the 37 team kills for the Grizzlies, Mulkey had nine kills.

The Grizzlies continue conference action on Thursday, Aug. 23 when they travel to Salt Lake City to take on the Westminster Griffins before traveling to Grand Junction to take on the Colorado Mesa Mavericks.
