VB | Grizzly winning streak snapped by Mavericks

GRAND JUNCTION Colo.—The Adams State University volleyball team fell short and snapped their winning streak as they now stand 3-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference portion of their schedule with the loss on Friday night. The Grizzlies brought on some fierce competition but took the fall to Colorado Mesa University in three sets inside the Brownson Arena. The Grizzlies fell short by scores of 14-25, 15-25 and 15-25.

Sai Collins got the Grizzlies off to hot start with the first kill within the first minute of the first set. The Grizzlies continued to build off that momentum, but the Mavericks began to take lead in the match.

The second set the Mavericks continued jumping out to the lead and the Grizzlies attempted to crawl back, but ultimately fell short to the Mavericks. Despite the loss in the second match, the Grizzlies put up some great stats including six kills, three blocks and 26 attack attempts.

The Grizzlies battled their way through the third set and did not back down despite the Mavericks on-going momentum. The Grizzlies finished off the set with 33 attack attempts and six kills.

Shannon Mulkey and Alexandra MacAskill lead the Grizzlies with four kills apiece, followed by Anna Huggins with three kills.
