COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Despite an 8-0 run in the second half to cut the Mountain Lion lead single digits, the Adams State University Grizzlies were unable to reach the summit and ultimately fell to the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs Mountain Lions 68-55 on Friday.
The Grizzlies and Mountain Lions tied up the game early at eight at the first media timeout before the Grizzlies were held scoreless for over a minute and a half allowing the Mountain Lions to take a 15-11 lead after one frame.
UCCS outscored ASU 20-12 in the second period to lead 35-23.
Adams State was able to claw back in the game but an 18-point lead was too much for the Grizzlies to overcome and they dropped the game.
ASU was led by Rhianna Davis, who scored 11 points including 5-of-6 from the free throw line.
Elaina Watson and
Kayla Harris each scored ten points.
Adams State, who is now 4-8 overall and 2-5 in the RMAC, will return to action on Saturday when they play at New Mexico Highlands at 5:30 p.m.
