ALAMOSA, Colo.—After an 18-day hiatus that included the mandatory NCAA winter break and two games pushed back due to COVID-19, the Adams State University Grizzlies found it hard to get out of the funk as they fell to the Colorado State University Pueblo ThunderWolves, 48-17, on Tuesday afternoon inside Plachy Hall.
The Grizzlies started slow as they were only able to hit 7-of-30 (30 percent) shots from the field.
Stephanie Ruiz was the best shooter as she hit 3-of-10 from the field including 2-of-7 from beyond the arch for eight points as the ThunderWolves led 48-17 at the break.
The second half started much better for the Grizzlies as their defense stifled CSU Pueblo for the first five minutes. Despite the 6-0 run in the first five minutes the Grizzlies could not claw back into the game.
Adams State went cold in the fourth quarter as they failed to hit a single shot going 0-of-13 from the field.
In the game Ruiz' eight points led the Grizzlies.
Adams State will be back in action on Jan. 14 when they travel to UCCS to take on the Mountain Lions at 5:30 p.m.
