COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – After shining at the Ted Castaneda Classic, Adams State University graduate student Franziska Althaus was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week as announced by conference officials on Tuesday afternoon.
The award comes on the heels of national recognition as the Wiesbaden, Germany native was named the USTFCCCA Division II Runner of the Week on Monday.
Althaus captured the individual crown this past weekend at the Castaneda Classic hosted by Colorado College. She led Adams State to a team title by traversing the 6k course in 21:34.8 for a 4.5 second victory over the runner-up finisher and 36.9 seconds better than the next collegian across the line. This was also the first win for Althaus on the grass circuit in a Grizzlies uniform.
Adams State's cross country team will take this week off before traveling to Riverside, Calif. to participate in the Highlander Invitational on Oct. 15.
