ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Adams State University women's soccer team was able to use precision free kicks to defeat the Black Hills State University Yellow Jackets 2-0 on Friday afternoon. The Grizzlies, who are now 3-7 overall and 2-4 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), have eclipsed win total for the Grizzlies in the past three years. The Grizzlies went 4-11 in 2019.
The Grizzlies jumped onto the scoreboard in the 44th minute as
Emily Chamberlain took a free kick from 40 yards out that sailed over the goalkeeper's head and went into the top right corner of the net for her second goal of the season.
The Grizzlies kept the pressure up and tacked on an additional goal in the 65th minute as
Karlee Caballero was just outside the box and scored a laser to the top right corner over a wall of defenders for her third goal of the season.
The Grizzlies outshot the Yellow Jackets 11-9 with six on goal while BHSU had nine.
The Grizzlies will look to continue the good fortunes on Sunday afternoon when they host MSU Denver at noon.
