ALAMOSA, Colo. – Adams State University Director of Athletics Katelyn Smith has announced Vic Bonilla as the Interim Head Women's Soccer Coach.
Bonilla assumes leadership of the Grizzlies after serving as the program's assistant coach. Her promotion provides continuity for the program while bringing an accomplished coach with extensive experience in collegiate, club, and professional soccer.
"We are thrilled to announce that Coach Bonilla will be stepping into this role," said Smith. "Having already been an invaluable part of our staff as an assistant coach, she knows and understands the program. We look forward to her leadership this upcoming season."
Bonilla brings a diverse coaching background and a history of success at multiple levels of the sport. She holds a U.S. Soccer Federation National B License and most recently served as a volunteer coach at the University of New Mexico from January 2023 through May 2025 under United States Women's National Team U23 Head Coach Heather Dyche.
Alongside her collegiate experience, Bonilla spent four years coaching with Albuquerque United and New Mexico Soccer Academy. She served as head coach of the U11 team and as an assistant coach for the Girls Academy U15 squad, helping develop some of the region's top young talent.
From 2019 to 2021, Bonilla served as head coach of New Mexico Lightning in the Women's Premier Arena Soccer League (WPASL). During her tenure, the club advanced to a national runner-up finish while capturing multiple regional tournament championships.
Bonilla has also gained valuable experience in professional sports through New Mexico United's Diversity Fellowship, where she served as a Front Office Fellow.
Her coaching achievements have earned recognition on the state, regional, and national levels. In 2023, she was named the New Mexico Youth Soccer Girls Coach of the Year and the U.S. Soccer West Region Girls Coach of the Year. She was also selected as a finalist for the U.S. Soccer National Girls Coach of the Year award.
