CANYON, Texas—The final game of the 2022 West Texas A&M University Invitational saw the Adams State University Grizzlies lead early but ultimately fall in a one-run game to the No. 5 WTAMU Lady Buffs, 4-3, in Sunday afternoon at Scheffer Park.
The Grizzlies allowed a single run in the bottom of the first inning and then had two scoreless innings. Adams State saw a double by
Belinda Vargas and a double by
Sydney Muniz score three runs in the top of the third inning to give the Grizzlies a 3-1 lead.
The Lady Buffs than scored the three final runs of the game, all of which were unearned.
Adams State scored their three runs on five hits and the aide of three errors by WTAMU.
Duncon pitched a complete game and only surrendered one earned run in the loss, her second of the year.
The Grizzlies will now return home to open up the home and conference portion of the season next Saturday and Sunday when they host the Regis Rangers in an RMAC doubleheader.
