PITTSBURG, Kan.—Behind two third place finishes on the men's side and 15 team points between the 3,000-meter and mile for the women, the Adams State University track and field team boasted two top-ten finishes at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas on Saturday.
The Grizzly women finished in a tie for fifth place with the host Pittsburg State Gorillas as the two teams scored 31 points while Minnesota State earned the team title with 58 points. The men finished in ninth place with 23 points. Both Grizzly squads were the top teams from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in the team standings.
The day started with junior Leroy Elliot earning All-America honors with a third-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles as he finished with a time of 7.89.
Freshman Mikah Paiz earned a team point in the mile as he finished with time of 4:14.63 to take eighth place.

Ava O'Connor earned an All-America honor in the mile as she finished with a time of 4:55.66 and earned six team points.
Sophomore
David Cardenas finished fifth in the 800 meters with a time 1:51.34 to earn four points.
The Grizzlies were represented by three Grizzlies in the 3,000-meter run. Junior Clement Duigou posted a personal record to finish fifth and earn All-America honors as he crossed the finish line in 8:00.64. Meanwhile junior Devonte Jett-Reynolds posted a personal record by posting a time of 8:02.70 while freshman
James Dunne finished in 8:06.45. The two finished in 11th and 14th places, respectively.
Six Grizzlies were in the women's 3,000-meter with sophomore
Brianna Robles finishing in third place with a time of 9:20.92. Freshman
Fiona Hawkins was the next in Grizzly green to cross the finish line as she finished in sixth place with a time of 9:26.56.

Morgan Hykes took ninth place with a time of 9:31.93, freshman
Emily Schoellkopf took 13th place with a time of 9:39.25, sophomore Franziska Althaus took 15th place with a time of 9:39.65 and freshman
Precious Robinson rounded out the Grizzlies with a 16th place showing in 9:42.71.
The Grizzlies now turn their attention now to the outdoor season which will commence next week.
