ALAMOSA, Colo.—The Colorado Mesa University Mavericks were able to push their winning streak to 21 games on Sunday afternoon as they completed a doubleheader sweep of the Grizzlies, 13-2 and 12-0.
GAME 1: Colorado Mesa 13, Adams State 2 (5 inn.)
The Mavericks hesitated little time as they scored four runs in the first on two home runs and then six runs in the second inning. Of the ten runs, six of them were scored with two outs. Colorado Mesa scored two runs to take a 12-0 lead.
Breck Smith ended the hitless streak for the Grizzlies in the bottom of the fifth as they were able to plate two runs including a triple by
Belinda Vargas.
Adams State surrendered the 13 runs on 13 hits and three defensive errors while getting their two runs on three hits and one error. Adams State did give up seven free passes with five hit batters.
GAME 2: Colorado Mesa 12, Adams State 0
The Mavericks jumped out to a seven-run lead in the top of the second inning thanks to two home runs in the inning.
Colorado Mesa tacked on two runs in the third inning before
Jasmine Garbiso came and slowed the bleeding with a scoreless fourth inning. They capped off the hame with the win by scoring 12 runs.

The Grizzlies will hit the road next Saturday and Sunday when they travel to Colorado Springs to take on the Mountain Lions.
