SB | Grizzlies suffer sweep in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Adams State University Grizzlies could not over come the UCCS Mountain Lions on Sunday afternoon as the home team escape Mountain Lion Stadium with a 8-0 run-rule win and a 5-3 win.
 
GAME 1: UCCS 8, Adams State 0 (5 inn.)
The first game of the day saw two defensive errors lead to two runs and a wild pitch led to a walk-off run-rule win by the Mountain Lions in the first game.
 
After a scoreless first inning, UCCS scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning. They than scored four runs in the third inning before closing out the game with the wild pitch.
 
Alyssa Alvarez was the offensive production for the Grizzlies in the game as she was 2-for-2.
 
Tayler Duncan was tabbed with the loss as she surrendered four earned runs on five hits in 2 1/3 innings of work.
 
GAME 2: UCCS 5, Adams State 3
The Grizzlies opened up the game by using good base running as Jade Garbiso advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Hoisington and then an errant throw allowed her to cross the plate.
 
A solo home run in the bottom of the first tied the game for the Mountain Lions before Sydney Muniz hit a two-run home run scoring Breck Smith to make the score 3-0 after three innings.
 
The Mountain Lions tied the game in the bottom of the fourth inning with a home run. They then took a 5-3 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning and they were able to close out the game for the win. 
 
Up Next
The Grizzlies return home next weekend for a four-game series with the Colorado School of Mines Orediggers. Doubleheaders are scheduled for Saturday at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. and Sunday at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
