ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Adams State University softball team closed out the home portion of the 2022 season with a sweep over the CSU Pueblo ThunderWolves with 9-1 and 13-1 run-rule victories.
The Grizzlies honored
Kylea Wall and
Taylor Sandoval as the lone seniors and both players came out to play on Sunday.
Sandoval tossed a gem to Wall, who was her battery mate. She earned the win by firing just 49 pitches to get through 4.1 innings of work allowing just three hits and one run while walking just two.
Wall went 2-for-3 at the plate on the day with two walks and four runs scored. She had a triple as well.
GAME 1: Adams State 9, CSU Pueblo 1
The ThunderWolves scored their lone run in the top of the first on a sacrifice bunt.
Adams State countered with a first-pitch three-run blast by junior
Breck Smith for a 3-1 lead after one.
In the second inning, Alyssa Alverez hit a two-run triple down the left field line to make the score 5-1.
Adams State scored four run in the fourth inning as
Angeline Mitchell singled to right field before
Jade Garbiso doubled to left field before Smith singled to make the score 8-1. Alverez scored the walk-off win on a single to left field.
GAME 2: Adams State 13, CSU Pueblo 1
The second game started the same way as CSU Pueblo jumped out to a 1-0 lead before
Belinda Vargas made the score 3-1, this time on a triple. Savanah Hoisington made the score 4-1 after the first inning.
The second inning saw
Sydney Muniz single through the right side to score two runs while Hoisington singled to second base and thanks to an error, Muniz scored.
Mariah Madrid then took over offensively with a triple that scored two runs. She then hit a three-run home run in the fourth to make the score 13-1.

The Grizzlies will then close out the 2022 campaign next weekend when they travel to MSU Denver.
