SB | Grizzlies split Sunday twin bill with Orediggers

ALAMOSA, Colo.—A beautiful day turned cold for the Adams State University Grizzly softball team. Not just the weather but on the diamond as the Grizzlies won the first game 14-3 before dropping the second game 8-4.

Game 1: Adams State 14, Colorado School of Mines 3 (5 inn.)
The first game looked like the Orediggers were going to continue their dominate performance from Saturday night, as they scored two runs to open the game.

Adams State decided they had some offensive prowess to showcase as they cut the lead in half in the bottom of the first as Belinda Vargas singled to centerfield scoring Jade Garbiso. In the bottom of the second inning four swings of the bat made the score 4-2. Emma Wilder singled to left field to score Mariah Madrid before Garbiso doubled to left center to score Wilder. Muniz followed with a double of her own to score Garbiso before Smith doubled to the exact same location.

The Grizzlies then scored nine runs in the bottom of the third inning to make the core 14-2. In the inning the Grizzlies saw two bunt singles and a couple of errors score unearned runs before Kylea Wall capped off the scoring with a triple.

In the game, the Grizzlies had 14 hits including a 3-of-4 performance from Belinda Vargas. Taylor Sandoval earned her third win of the season as tossed 3.1 innings.

Game 2: Colorado School of Mines 8, Adams State 4
After two scoreless innings, the Orediggers scored four unearned runs in the third and fourth innings before ASU saw Angeline Mitchell score a run in the bottom of the fourth. After the Orediggers continued to add on the Grizzlies saw Vargas hit a sacrifice fly while Andrea Cline hit a double up the middle and Garbiso single to shortstop for the scorers.
