LAKEWOOD, Colo. --
Sharmayne Finley converted a layup with two seconds to play to give Adams State a 75-73 win over Colorado Christian University on CCU's floor Jan. 13.
The win improved the Grizzlies' record to 11-5 overall, 7-3 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. CCU slipped to 6-10, 2-8 in the conference.
Finley scored 19 points to top ASU's score sheet. Angeline Nageak had 13, and
Kiiyani Anitielu totaled 11. Maggie Phipps of CCU topped all scorers with 22 points. Dasiya Jones added 16.
CCU forged a seven-point lead with four minutes to play. ASU started its rally with a pair of Finley free throws. Nageak hit a jump shot to pull the Grizzlies within one point with 1:56 left.
Makenna Bodettee sank two free throws with 11 seconds to play to pull the Grizzlies into a tie. After an ASU timeout, the ball found its way into Finley's hands. She missed one layup try, got the rebound and made good on the putback.
ASU's road trip continues with a 4 p.m. game Saturday, Jan. 14, at Chadron (Nebraska) State College.
