ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—The Grizzlies had an impressive weekend as they competed against some stiff competition at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Collegiate Invitational.
Camwrin Harris got the Grizzlies off to a good start as he competed well in the men's long jump as he jumped 6.76 meters. Harris later competed in the men's triple jump placing 9
th overall with a jump of 14.29 meters.
Papay Glaywulu represented the Grizzlies well as he also competed in the men's triple jump earning fourth overall as he jumped 14.94 meters.
In the men's shot put
James Hochanadel competed well in this event as he threw close to his personal best. Hochanadel placed in the top 15 with a throw of 15.64 meters. James Waddles also competed in this event and threw 14.72 meters.
Chad Jackson ran a new seasons best in the men's 400-meters. Jackson stayed engaged throughout the race and placed 6
th overall with a time of 49.73.
Neveh Jones also represented the Grizzlies in this event as he placed 14
th overall with a time of 51.66, followed by
Michael Fonseca who finished 15
th with a time of 52.13. Brandon Guzman competed in this event as well as he finished 19
th with a time of 55.52.
Jordan Spencer competed in the men's 60-meter hurdles prelims and ran a time of 8.20. Despite his efforts Spencer fell short by one spot making it to finals.
Yonas Haile and Elijah De La Cerda competed in the men's mile and both men placed in the top 5. Haile crossed the line in fourth place with a time of 4:16.79, followed by De La Cerda in fifth with a time of 4:19.72.
On the women's side
Alese Sartain competed in the women's 200-meter dash and ran a time of 28.87.
Lieke Hoogsteen ran a strong race in the women's 600- meters. Hoogsteen latched onto the pack and finished 11
th overall with a time of 1:36.35.
Maggie McCleskey never fails to represent the Grizzlies well as this freshman always gives her best efforts on the track. McCleskey ran an impressive race in the women's 800-meters as she finished fourth overall with a time of 2:14.75.
Up Next, the Grizzlies with be back on the track next week as they will be hosting the Wes Lavong Invitational and others will travel to Albuquerque, N.M. to compete at the UNM Team Meet.
