Rapid City, S.D – The ASU men's soccer team battled fiercely in their match against South Dakota Mines this Sunday afternoon at O'Harra Memorial Stadium. The Grizzlies took the field with unwavering determination but as the final whistle approached the game ended 3-1.
The Grizzlies found themselves struggling to maintain control of the game in the first half of the match as South Dakota Mines displayed a well-balanced performance. ASU did well in keeping a strong defense, but the possession of the ball shifted back and forth between each team. The first half made it challenging for either team to gain a clear advantage as both teams were tied 0-0.
Nine minutes into the second half some pressure to the Grizzlies as the Hardrockers were able to get passed
Charles Manthe and make the first goal of the game. The Grizzlies worked tirelessly to prevent the ball from finding its way to the goal, but the Hardrockers created a rhythm for clear scoring opportunities. The Grizzlies were able to put their name on the board with a powerful kick by
Kaidin Reese that sailed into the goal. The Grizzlies were determined to score another goal in the remaining minutes of the game as they added pressure to Hardrocker's defense. The Grizzlies gave their best efforts, but the match ended 3-1.
