WICHITA FALLS, Texas - The Adams State University women's basketball team improved to 3-1 on the season on Saturday night as they broke the century mark by defeating the Midwestern State University squad, 102-84.
Angelline Nageak set a career high with 27 points also set career-highs in free throws made and attempted as she was 11-of-12 from the free throw line. RiRi Davis set a career high on the night with nine rebounds
Adams State took a 32-23 lead after the first quarter before allowing the Mustangs to close in by outscoring Adams State 21-17 to make the score 45-40 at the break.
The second half mirrored the same except with ASU down by two with 78-76 with 6:30 remaining. The Grizzlies then took over as they finished the game with a 20 point advantage over the final six minutes finishing with a 26-6 run to close out the game with the win.
Adams State was 49.3 percent (34-of-69) from the field including 7-of-16 (43.8 percent) from beyond the arch. Adams State added 27 points from the free throw line as they only missed three shots.
The Grizzlies will now make their home opener on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. whne they host Eastern New Mexico.
