WBB | Late surge lifts Javs over Grizzlies

ALAMOSA, Colo. -- A 20-9 showing by the visiting Texas A&M University-Kingsville Javelinas in the fourth quarter was just enough for them to escape Plachy Hall with a 69-66 win over the Adams State Grizzlies on Saturday afternoon.

Adams State trailed 19-16 after the first quarter but outscored the Javelinas by six in the second quarter to take a 36-32 lead at the break.

Adams State grew the lead by four in the third quarter as they lead 57-49 and looked like they were in the driver's seat headed into the final stanza. 

In the final quarter saw the Javs shoot 7-of-11 (63.64 percent) from the field including 2-of-3 from the three-point range and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line to take the lead.

Adams State was led by Harmanie Dominguez and RiRi Davis, who each scored 16 points. As a team the Grizzlies shot 41.9 percent (26-of-62) from the field including ten three-pointers.

Adams State will hit the road, while the air this weekend as they and their male counterparts travel to Anchorage, Alaska to take on the University of Alaska Anchorage Seawolves with two doubleheaders this upcoming Friday and Saturday.
