MBB | Grizzlies drop first of two in Alaska

ANCHORAGE, Alaska— On Friday evening, the Adams State men's basketball team encountered challenges in the first half against the University of Alaska Anchorage. Striving to reduce the deficit as the game unfolded, the team's concerted efforts were not enough to defeat the Seawolves' concluding the game with a score of 83-67.
 
The Seawolves now are a perfect 5-0 all-time against the Grizzlies as Adams State has now lost three in a row and are 2-3 on the season.
 
In the first half, Austin Fadal demonstrated his proficiency with an effective layup, while Destan Williams showcased sharpshooting skills by successfully sinking a three-pointer, contributing early points to ASU's score. Adams State was up 5-2 before allowing the Seawolves to go on a 15-0 run and take a 17-5 run before the Grizzlies closed the gap.
 
One of the standout moments of the first half occurred when Kaleb Mitchell delivered a thrilling dunk.
 
Courtney White displayed precision, connecting on a crucial three-pointer with an assist from Luke Williams, highlighting Adams State's offensive versatility. Although Williams concluded the half with a trey, the Seawolves maintained a commanding 12-point lead over the Grizzlies
 
At the beginning of the second half, Alex Hurr sank a successful three-pointer, courtesy of an assist from John Harge. Harge later successfully netted a three-pointer, from a Williams feed, narrowing the gap by four points that the Seawolves had established early in the game.
 
The competition stayed intense, with both the Seawolves and the Grizzlies maintaining their concentration throughout the thrilling matchup. Kolby Walker nailed a three-pointer, with an assist from Jude Tapia, who marked his third assist of the game.
 
With only 1:14 left on the clock, Williams of Adams State netted a pair of free throws, reaching his total of 18 points.
 
Up Next, the ASU men's basketball team will be back on the court tomorrow at 9:30 p.m. to play in a second game against the University of Alaska Anchorage.
